Mortal Shell 2 Best Proxima Build
Proxima turns Mortal Shell 2's lightning system into a burst-damage machine: her Biosampler kit stacks Stasis and Lightning while a heavy blade holds enemies in place. This page collects the community's launch-build loadout for her, why it works, and where to find every piece of it.
The loadout pairing below follows Game8's launch guide, verified against the August 20 release build; the locations come from our own shell and weapon research. Anything not yet confirmed is listed openly at the bottom of the page.
The best Proxima build in one look
Game8's walkthrough team publishes a best build for each of the eight shells, pairing a weapon and a sidearm with each shell's ability kit. Their pick for Proxima:
- Shell — Proxima (Lightning), found at the Shattered Beacon in the Blackridge Cliffs
- Weapon — Great Martyr's Blade, the reforged weapon of the First Martyr Tarsus
- Sidearm — Triarch Repeater
- Gameplan — Biosampler inflicts Stasis and Lightning stacks, then the blade converts them into burst damage
Why this loadout wins: Biosampler and the Lightning gameplan
Proxima's signature is the Biosampler kit that lightning builds are built on: it inflicts Stasis and Lightning stacks on enemies, setting up a window where burst damage lands all at once. The Great Martyr's Blade is the pairing that makes that window pay — a heavy weapon whose complete, unique moveset can dump damage into a Stasis-slowed target instead of chipping at it.
Every weapon in Mortal Shell II defines its own full moveset — there are no shared-animation subtypes — so the blade genuinely changes how Proxima plays compared with a faster pairing. The Triarch Repeater covers the gap: as a ranged sidearm it extends pressure between the blade's slower swings and keeps Lightning stacks ticking while you reposition.
Where to find Proxima
Proxima is one of the two easiest shells: her general location is revealed when you first enter Fainweald. From the Widow's Overlook Beacon head north into the Blackridge Cliffs, past cultists fighting a Tarred Vestige and the white spider-like enemy, until a glimmering beacon appears — the Shattered Beacon. Proxima's body lies on a table inside; possessing her unlocks the Biosampler kit.
Where to find the Great Martyr's Blade and Triarch Repeater
The Great Martyr's Blade waits in the Martyr's Prison dungeon at the northeast corner of the castle, reachable from the Gloomshade Grove Beacon or via the well from the Holding Cells. Clear the four enemies in the locked room and the blade is yours.
The Triarch Repeater is one of the eight ranged sidearms. Per PowerPyx's locations guide, none of the sidearms are missable, and Merrick in Marrow Keep sells their map markers like he does for weapons — so if you would rather buy the waymark than search, that trade exists.
The Great Martyr's Blade is the guard-meter outlier
One detail build planners miss: the Great Martyr's Blade is the only weapon in the game whose Guard Meter scaling breaks the universal curve. Every other weapon scales Guard Meter at x1.25; the Great Martyr's Blade scales at x1.30 — a small but real defensive edge at high upgrade levels.
Raw damage on all weapons scales from x1.00 at +0 to x1.80 at +16, while stagger and the zero-based stats keep scaling to x2.00 at +20. The full multiplier table and a level-by-level Tarforge cost calculator are in the damage calculator.
What is the best Proxima build in Mortal Shell 2?
Game8's launch-build pick pairs the Great Martyr's Blade with the Triarch Repeater: Biosampler inflicts Stasis and Lightning stacks for burst, and the blade's heavy unique moveset converts that crowd control into damage. See the loadout breakdown above for why each piece earns its slot.
Where do I find Proxima in Mortal Shell 2?
Proxima lies at the Shattered Beacon in the Blackridge Cliffs, north of the Widow's Overlook Beacon in Fainweald. Her general location is revealed automatically when you first enter Fainweald — head past the cultists fighting a Tarred Vestige and the white spider-like enemy to reach her.
Is Proxima a good first shell?
She is one of the two earliest shells you can possess — the Fainweald pair, Tiel and Proxima, are both revealed when you first enter the region, while every other shell hides in a specific corner of the world and several are guarded by bosses. An early Proxima means an early Lightning gameplan; whether that suits you depends on how comfortable you are with a heavy blade's slower swings.
